A Romantic Kawartha Lakes Wedding at Western Trent Golf Club 

What I loved most about working with Liz and Brandon was the natural respect and affection they have for each other — something that flowed naturally whenever they were together. We spent their engagement session enjoying Springbank Woods and Pigeon Lake in Kawartha Lakes. I felt a connection with them right away — a shared love of nature, a quiet warmth, and a sense of ease that carried through into their wedding day.

 

The venue they chose for their wedding day fit them perfectly. Western Trent Golf Club offered a private outdoor ceremony space surrounded by long grasses and wildflower meadows. There’s something about that setting — open, a little hidden, and softly untamed — creating an atmosphere that felt both relaxed and quietly magical.

 

Inside the reception marquee, the space was beautifully styled in a rustic-chic way, with slender white birch branches, delicate twinkling lights, and sparkling chandeliers. Liz and Brandon added their own personal touch by designing each table around a favourite book (The Hobbit included), bringing their love of reading into the space in a way that felt thoughtful and completely their own.

 

As the sun began to dip, the light across the open patio and surrounding grounds shifted into that soft, golden glow you always hope for as a photographer. The outdoor space — including the unique chessboard-style dance floor — carried the energy of the day into the evening in a natural way.

 

For a few quiet minutes, Liz and Brandon slipped away into the open field nearby, taking a moment just for themselves. The light, the space, and the calm of the evening all came together in a way that felt incredibly special to witness — and to capture. A beautiful, relaxed, and deeply personal wedding in one of Kawartha Lakes’ more unexpected and memorable settings.
